WTN: 1999 Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche

1999 Domaine Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche

Enjoyed during an after-work barbecue spontaneously arranged among wine-loving work colleagues. 8)

Still showing surprisingly dark, primary color.
Highly aromatic and complex nose reminiscent of damson plums, griottes, blackberries, black cherries, tobacco and minerals.
Tending more to its black fruit side with continued airing.
Dense and firm but very expansive in the mouth with luscious cherry fruit and a powerful, endless finish.
After swallowing it the palate feels marinated and refreshed by cherry fruit, fine-grained tannins, lively acidity and minerals.
Fantastic stuff, but still too young. I'd love to taste this again in 10+ years. - My personal rating: 97+/100.

Cheers, Rainer

I've been peeking in on some 1999 Lignier Gevrey Combottes every once in a while. each time I do I think - too soon.

Mmmm, wished I worked where you do,

Some wine for a "spontaneous barbecue"!

Enjoy,
Josh

Dear Fredrik, I must admit, I don't have any bottle of this beauty in my cellar

Hi Josh, it was just a crazy coincidence. Normally I'm getting served mainstream stuff during after-work events

I, too, have some 1999 H. Lignier in my cellar, but only premier cru gear .... and the only bottle opened some years back was an act of vinicide.
Cheers,

David
