WTN: Flat Rock Cellars Twisted 2009

by Bruce Hayes » Fri Jul 06, 2012 1:35 pm

Niagara Peninsula

A blend of Riesling (69 per cent), Gewurztraminer (18) and Chardonnay.

Bright yellow in the glass.

Lemon, spicy, petrol, honey on the nose.

Medium weight, juicy, honey, grapefruit, lemon, apple, spicy, good acidity, petrol, very clean.

Initially, the wine seemed fat and rich, but it quickly turned leaner, showing more petrol, juicy green apple, spice and honey notes.

Lemon rind, mouthwatering on the finish.

Quite nice.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $15.95 (Canadian).

I like the wines I've had from Flat Rock, but I don't think I've had this one. You didn't find the Gewurz dominates the blend? I've often found that to be the case in these sort of wines (most often "Gentil" type blends from Alsace).
