From the Luna Matta Vineyard in Paso Robles, this has the typically deep, dark black red color of aglianico. Nose of black-fruited ash. The palate shows sweet dark fruits and an earthen dimension (baked clay?), but without the volcanism of many Italian versions. Very young still, would like to revisit in 5-6 years. With time, an austerity shows on the finish. 14.8% alcohol kicks in after a glass. Perhaps a little 'too clean', this is nice but unexciting. Good, but for $45, not a bargain, and one can find good aglainico's from Italy that show more complexity for 1/3 to 1/4 the price. B+
