LeeSobon gave me a btl to try out there last Fri. Cracked it last night:
1. Sobon Vicious Red Calif RW (42% Zin/23% Sangiovese/12% PetiteSyrah/17% CabSauv/6% Barbera; 14.2%; RS: 0.6%; TA: 0.74; pH: 3.6) P&B by SobonFamilyWines 2009: Very dark color; strong blackberry/briary/boysenberry/Zin slight spicy/roasted chile/new vinyl/naugahyde big spicy fruit nose; soft big/juicy/boysenberry/blackberry/Zin lush/mouthfilling/rich flavor w/ modest tannins; med.long soft rich/mouthfilling big/juicy/fruity/boysenberry/blackberry/Zin finish w/ light tannins; serve at slightly cool temprerature, seems a bit fat/porky at room temp; a really good juicy Zin for the price; lacks structure but a great knock-it-back Zin for BarBQue. $11.00

1. The ViciousRed, w/ a snarky dog on the label, is the Sobon "animal label" wine that is priced for value. They also make a Zin and a PetiteSirah. I gather this is made primarily foor distribution back East. From the taste, I would guess there may be some Lodi grapes therein. Screwtop btl.
I tried this w/ low expectations, but was amazed at how tasty/good the wine is. Not a really serious wine, but one you can just knock back w/ complete abandon.
