1. KalinCllrs Semillon LivermoreVlly (13.5%) 1998: Med.dark gold color; strong figgy/waxy/Semillon/green olive light earthy some butterscotch/caramel/toasty/oak lovely complex nose; rather tart/lean strong green olive/waxy/figgy/Semillon some caramel/toasty/oak bit rich/mouthfilling lovely flavor; very long/lingering very strong waxy/figgy/Semillon bit green olive some caramel/toasty/oak complex finish; a lovely old Semillon that will probably go another 20 yrs. $34.00

1. The Kalin Semillon is easily the best Semillon made in Calif. I've had a couple at 15-20 yrs and they age into magnificant. Some like an old/dry d'Yquem, w/ a strong honeyed character. I've had a couple of HunterVlly Semillons at 25-35 yrs, and think the Kalin is every bit their equal. I would love to try sometime a 25 yr old Ygrec along an equivalent HunterVlly and Kalin Semillon.
TerryLeighton is quite an interesting guy...the one time I met him. He prefers to release hiis wine w/ some age on them. This is, I believe, his currrent release. I've also been impressed by his Chard and PinotNoirs. And a stunning botrytis Semillon from time-to-time. Just wish his wines were easier to find.
