Attention Ontario drinkers: Problems with Torbreck GSM

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Nov 05, 2006 8:00 pm

Just wanted to let you know so you don't suffer the same disappointment I just did.

My wife made a roast beef and I decided to open one of the Torbreck Old Vines GSM 2004 I purchased recently.

The first bottle was decanted for about 30 minutes before, but was quite rough, sharp and hard.

So, opened a second bottle. This one started out slightly better, with nice cherry-raspberry fruit and red licorice, but soon became very dirty, with a very hot and charred-burned finish. Try as I might, I was unable to finish the second bottle.

Both bottles carry the same lot number, which can be found on the bottle itself, just under the front label: 6179 1 19:04.

If anyone has purchased any, I would suggest you check your lot numbers.

What a disappointment. :x
