WTN: Cabriz Reserva 2008

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Jun 02, 2012 11:11 am

Dao Sul
DOC Doa

A blend of Touriga Nacional, Alfocheiro and Tinto Roriz

Dark red in the glass.

Spicy, red licorice, cherry, raspberry, leather, juicy on the nose.

Medium weight, creamy, spicy, currants, cherry, raspberry, good acidity, red licorice, drying.

With time, turned a bit hard and puckering.

A drying finish.

Went well with BBQ.

Purchased at $15.95 (Canadian).

This is usually a good buy, although I don't have much experience with the '08. A properly made Dao from a good vintage can often age quite well - it will smooth out some of the tannins you describe. You paid a pretty good price for Canada (goes for around $14 US here).
