I'm only mildly familiar with this producer in that I've tried an older Gewuerztraminer and a Huxelrebe from them last year. I believe Skurnik used to import them in the late 1990's. The Kerner has been hiding behind a pickle jar in the fridge for almost a year, so I decided it was high time to try it. It's got a little kiwi and lemonaid fruit going on and interestingly enough, a slight petrol note and tingly flower pollen. It isn't appallingly sweet, but has less acid than I'd like and therefore comes off a little limp. Alsheim isn't a slouch wine village, and lies a dozen or so km south of Oppenheim in the Rheinfront -although Fischerpfad is a more desireable site than Fruehmesse. Overall a pleasant little Kerner for a Sunday afternoon, but not the finest example to pass my lips. 9% alc. Price unknown
Prost!
