haven't been to a vintages lcbo in quite awhile. found john, who runs the all canada wine competition and knows his stuff. he had a conterno barolo '01 open. smelled like wine laced burbon - yike! he said there had been some bottle variation and this was the least good one. anyway, i was very pleasantly surprised at the prices in the vintages section. in many cases they were cheaper than some US prices - and then of course there is a little break on exchange. here are some examples:
georget gardet champagne 'cuvee flavy' nv $38
jacquart '98 mosaique blanc de blanc $49
muller catoir riesling trocken '04 $29
belland savigny 1er cru '03 $32
there were lots more - who knew that the vintages pricing was better than the general list pricing - and lots more interesting of course.
