Just read in the SLO New Times about what I think is a rather novel idea by some wineries in the Paso Robles area ... their idea of a sorta "Boston Tea Party" ... from Friday, April 7th through Sunday, April 9th, if you stop in any of their tasting rooms, they'll pick up your sales tax on wine purchases whether it's just one bottle or several cases ... they call it the "Paso Robles Wine Party" ... this group of wineries call themselves the "Paso Robles 46 West Wineries" and they're all located on or just off Highway 46 between Vineyard Avenue and Highway 101 ... here's the list of wineries, including FWIW the one wine/wine varietal I like best at each place (most of you know I'm a QPR kind of guy) ...
Brian Benson Cellars - Shop Truck Red
Castoro Cellars - petite verdot
Dark Star Cellars - cabernet sauvignon
Doce Robles - syrah
Eagle Castle - Royal Red
Fratelli-Perata - merlot
Grey Wolf - grenache rose
Hunt Cellars - port
JanKris - zinfandel
Midnight Cellars - Full Moon Red
Peachy Canyon - Incredible red
Rotta - cabernet franc
Summerwood - Vin Rouge
Windward - pinot noir
Wish I weren't 500 miles away ! Although Kathleen tells me I definitely overbought last month during our trip to Paso for zin fest weekend ... sigh ...
BTW Robin - if this post is on the wrong board, feel free to move it ... maybe this was more "Travel Related" than wine related ...
