Susan & I tried last night a wine I got in several weeks ago:
1. MtVeeder Nuclear Wines Special LosAlamos Cuvee Rhone Blonk (Roussanne/Marsanne; 14.2%) 2010: Med.gold color; lovely floral/honeysuckle ripe pear/apple quite spicy/apple pie slight earthy/herbal fairly ripe quite perfumed nose; rather tart slight earthy/herbal quite rich/lush floral/honeysuckle/apple/apple pie/pear/spicy slight tangy/citrusy textured/glycerined quite structured lovely flavor; very long tart/tangy/citrusy rich/lush/ripe structured ripe floral/honeysuckle/apple/apple pie/spicy slight earthy rather textured finish; much like a HermitageBlanc in structure but much more aromatic and less earthiness; would guess this will go out 10-15 yrs; its best is yet to come; one of the best Calif RhoneBlanc blends I've had in some time; a steal at $15.00.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This is a wine that was offered me by a fly-by-night wine broker I've dealt with in the past (actually, from the very start) who requested anonymity. The label (shown below) is rather amateurish, done by somebody w/ pretty pathetic PhotoShop skills...maybe even Rudy Kurniawan. If you examine the label intently, you can see that the mushroom cloud may actually have been snipped out from some photo w/ scissors..a very crude forgery. I have my doubts that there was actually a nuclear explosion on MtVeeder...but you never know for sure.
Be that as it may...the wine is actually pretty terrific..one of the better white Rhone blends from Calif I've had of late.
