I had a glass of this Gruner Veltliner at Zely & Ritz in Raleigh, taking advantage of their First Friday dinner special (three courses for $25.) It was a great pairing for my appetizer of asparagus/farmer's cheese tart but unfortunately I ate the tart so quickly that the wine hadn't arrived at my table yet, Pale color; transparent. Tangy sensation. Prickly pear with lifted note. Balanced and tantalizing.
(I ordered a pre-dinner drink of strawberry Sangria with fresh sliced strawberries to fish out of the bottom of the glass after sipping the drink.)
