Gosset Brut Excellence NV
It's been years since I've had Gosset but I do remember liking it despite them having been on the heavier end of the spectrum of what I enjoy. So I was happy to see a Gosset available after several years. The last time it was Grande Réserve that we had; now it's the Brut Excellence. Is this always a seriously inferior bottling or has the style changed in past 4-5 years? This was frankly a bit boring: simple and fruity and tastes rather too sweet (Alko's tech sheet says 10 g/l sugar). It's a correct wine in that it is obviously Champagne (and quite Pinot-dominated now) but so forgettable that when writing this note, I have to type with one hand while holding the glass under my nose with the other just to remember what it smells like.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

I generally gravitate towards the lighter/elegant houses, but on the fuller side of Champagne I've quite liked the Gosset Excellence, thought it had a nice backbone under the big frame. Of course, lots differ, and all of the ones I've had were released at least a couple years ago, but would be surprised if a big change. But tastes differ!
