This 2001Mathern Auslese Riesling from the Niederhauser Rosenberg vineyard in the Nahe was in excellent condition at 10 years. There was great sweetness balanced by fine acidity. The color was a bright brassy gold and had a nose and palate of intense peach and boytritis. Consumed during a night of euchre, I think it improved my cards and certainly my general demeanor. abv of %8

Hi Jim -
Thank you for the interesting note on a producer that I don't read much about. I finally discovered Mathern after Terry Theise had already stopped importing them, and thus have only had one of their wines to date.
