Do White Riojas age well?

by Jim Grow » Sat Apr 21, 2012 11:13 am

I recently bought a couple bottles of the 2005 Remelluri Blanco and checking with CellarTracker, all the notes are 3 years or older. I bought them on a whim and was wondering if I can set them aside for a few years and if they will improve further. What grapes are these wines produced from?

To the subject line, white Rioja can age very very well. I've loved white Lopez de Heredia GRs from 60s, 70s, and 80s (and some from the 50s have great reps)
Never had a Remelluri white though, so no idea if this wine can age.
Riojas are usually a blend, I think the whites are usually Viura, Grenache blanc, malvasia, or moscatel (the LdH Tondonia is almost all Viura I think).
