Wine pairing with baked beans

by JC (NC) » Mon Apr 16, 2012 5:43 pm

I am planning a wine tasting in June based around picnic foods. I'm thinking a Sauvignon Blanc or Albarino with cole slaw, a rose with German potato salad (with bits of bacon or ham), Chardonnay with buttered corn on the cob, several red wines including Zinfandel with grilled hamburgers. What would you suggest for baked beans with brown sugar or maple sugar?

My baked beans use molasses and bacon (Bush's Boston Style is close) and I'd suggest a rosé or a light bubbly, like Prosecco.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

I will have some rose' wines and was considering either a Prosecco or a Moscato d'Asti (which would be served with dessert.) Thanks, Howie.
(And Bob's reply made me LOL).
