Obscure Varieties Site

by TomHill » Wed Apr 11, 2012 2:12 pm

I just stumbled upon this Site:
FringeWine

when I was researching Pelaverga afore tasting. Some guy
named Rob Tebeau up in Boston. An amazing stash of information in his blog. Worth bookmarking.
Anybody here know Rob???

Hi Tom -

Thank you for the link. Although I do not know Rob despite living in the same general area as he does, I certainly share his interest in seeking out wines from lesser known grapes and regions. I found his blog very interesting, and hope to meet him at some local wine event in the future.

Well...you'll have to tell me, Oliver.

~ Comm. G.B.Burlotto DOC: VerdunoPelaverga (14%; 100% Pelaverga) 2010: $20.00 (PMW)

Maybe one of your wines?? Think it's RareWineCo. Their Site doesn't say.

Pelaverga Piccola. (The other one is if anything even more obscure.)

I love Pelaverga, interesting range of flavors and very useful weight. We are finding people are much more open to light-to-middleweight wines these days, maybe the Sideways effect.

Besides Burlotto, Fratelli Alessandria also makes a nice Pelaverga. I have also tried a Pelaverga from Ascheri called "do ut des il Gusto della Solidarietà"- it was nice, but probably just a bit behind those two in my book.
