Wanted a Burg to go with some duck, so popped the first of some '07 d'Angerville Volnays I'd recently acquired. This is drinking beautifully, fresh red berries and cherries gently accented by earthy, floral and faint herbal elements with a palate presence that's pure silk. The tannins are incredibly gentle and fine grained, and most of the structure here comes from the bright acidity that keeps it very fresh and almost weightless in the mouth. Only quibble is that it's a touch short on the back end, but it's a lovely wine and delivers everything I look for in a young Burg.
