Interprovincial wine trade enters the modern age: Bill C-311

by Paul B. » Wed Apr 04, 2012 10:41 pm

I'm very pleased that this bill is before Parliament. Assuming it passes, it appears that it will finally be possible for Canadians, no matter what province they live in, to order wine from any other province. About time!

"The 1928 Importation of Intoxicating Liquors Act makes it illegal to ship alcohol across provincial boundaries, unless authorized by the receiving province’s liquor board.

On Tuesday, a federal parliamentary finance committee heard public comment on a private member’s bill seeking to change that.

Bill C-311 from Okanagan-Coquihalla Tory MP Dan Albas would permit Canadians to import or order wine by phone or online from other provinces for their own use."
