Had friends over last night for my home made spagetti (w/marinara sauce). Marie made a nice caprese salad and we warmed a multi-grained batarde. The wine was exceptional. Deep, dark and delicious, showing the high-end elevage of 40% new French oak. A blend of 90% sangiovese, and 5% merlot with colorino and malvasia, this was singing. The 13.5% ABV was contained and the wine made for a special evening. Shows how far they have progressed with their efforts to elevate the Classico subzone. Thought to my palate, I would have preferred a 13% ABV. But there is no doubt the wine is substantial. (91 pts.)
