WTN: Abrente Albarino '11...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Apr 02, 2012 11:00 am

Just off the boat, tried last night:
1. Abrente Albarino MapaVlly (13.0%) Morgan Twain-Peterson/MichaelHavens 2011: Med.yellow color; lovely very fragrant/floral/carnations/spicy some stoney/mineral/perfumed talc slight metallic/steely classic Albarino very perfumed/fragrant nose; quite tart/steely/mineral/stoney light floral/carnations/spicy bit disolved CO2 (?) bright/bracing flavor; very long bright/floral/carnations rather steely/mineral/stoney finish; a classic Albarino but more floral aromatics than you get from Spain; does not have the austere/lean/eviscerated character of many Spanish Albarinos; really lovely wine. $19.00

Wow! That Vermentino sounds just like an Albarino, Tom. I had this the other night, and enjoyed it, too. Actually better the second night; it benefits from some air!
I don't know just how I'm supposed to play this scene, but I ain't afraid to learn...

Yeah...it was a Vermentino....but it had all the classic aromas and character of an Albarino to me, more than any Vermentino I've had.

Dang....you're right, Steve. Albarino. That's why it was so danged good. I had a Tablas Vermentino also out to try,
but musta had a brain fart when I wrote down my TN.
Be assured....it has nothing to do with old age, Steve.
