The long standing Vancouver Playhouse International wine festival is in jeopardy. The Vancouver Playhouse has made their final curtain call. Not only will the city lose an irreplaceable theatre group, but wine lovers will lose the Wine festival also. My wife has told me that BC govt denied hundreds of non profit organizations that rely on the funding. The BC govt promised that 33% of the gaming and gambling revenues would go to non profits and charities. The exact words of RICH COLEMAN in 1999, when the govt was starting to establish casinos. Currently the payout is closer to 10%, The Vancouver Playhouse is a direct casualty of the govt reneging on promises made to soothe the populous about gambling.
