What are we planning to open this weekend?

by Bob Parsons Alberta » Fri Mar 16, 2012 12:29 pm

Going Italian tonite, out to celebrate my birthday. Might also open my most recent purchase, a bottle of Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva rum from Venezuela! This was the top rum for me in a tasting last night.

I also thought the Dos Maderas was very good, has an interesting history.

Happy Birthday Bob!

I"m going to open a Sauvignon Blanc from the Pfalz  and probably a bottle of Riesling or two.

Meeting a Durham, NC couple from the forum at a farm-to-table restaurant tonight. They are bringing a Condrieu and I will let them choose between a 2008 Alysian Rochioli Vineyard Pinot Noir or a 2002 Domaine de L'Arlot Nuits-St-Georges Clos des Forets 1er Cru. I have some white wines that may be getting long in the tooth so may be opening a Pouilly-Fuisse or a Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc later this weekend/

I will break my week long detox to celebrate the esteemed Mr. Parson's Birthday. Happy Birthday Bob. I don't know what I will drink. Maybe an Italian or Spanish white to go with the fish we will probably have.

The weekend's already started here in Israel.

Tonight, as a sort of digestif, because dinner was not in an atmosphere especially conductive to wine and geekdom, Les Héritiers du Comte, Lafon Viré-Clessé, 2010. Tomorrow depends on mood and weather, but I was thinking of Bouchard's 2007 Gevrey-Chambertin.

Drinking Couly-Dutheil Chinon Les Chanteaux tonight and probably some CdP at a birthday party tomorrow night. Keeping a low profile after last weekend's decadence...

Happy B-Day Bob. To celebrate St Patrick's Day will pop a couple of Magic Hat's Spring Seasonal Lagers during the day, and have a New World Syrah with grilled loin lamb chops, pureed Hubbard squash, baguette, and salad. Burp!

HB, Bob!
I hadn't made any plans. There's half a bottle of Swan Mancini Zin '05 open. Spaghetti tomorrow, that'll do for that. Steak Sunday, I'll probably guzzle the Mancini tomorrow, so I'll have to think about what I'm going to eat Monday. I'll worry about it sometime Sunday afternoon....

Guinness on Saturday. I'm going to a St. Josephs Day dinner on Sunday - will bring a few of my wines.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

Many happy returns, Bob.

I'm looking at 2 Toolangi Yarra Valley chardonnay's from 2009 - the standard labelling and the "Denton". So far the standard is oaky and very leesy with a lot of funk and barrel work coupled with peachy fruit, the Denton a lean thoroughbred with a much finer line, subtle oak, very pure and Chablis-like and a style I much prefer.
Cheers,

David
