2009 Mugneret-Gibourg Bourgogne
Tasted as part of an event I conducted last Saturday, so not the best environment for drinking or note taking, but this was delicious. Yes it was riper than many recent vintages, but the purity and balance were impeccable. Red fruit, gentle but structurally sound tannins and a persistent finish were just some of the positive features of the wine. Overall it was a pleasurable drink that held my attention, even when I went back to it at the end of the evening after all the Syrahs and Cabs. Lovely stuff that is well worth seeking out.

There aren't many producers in the Cote D'Or that I have more confidence in than the Mugneret sisters. Their style of wine appeals to me, and I haven't tasted many misses from them. Now, if only the pricing would come down...
