It's not often I am not thrilled with a Ridge wine, but I opened the 2003 Ridge Zinfandel Jimsomare as part of making a beef pot roast, and I have to say I was not thrilled. It had much of what you expect in a Ridge Zin, but the acidity was just too shrill and harsh. It was actually rather unpleasant to drink. Odd.
I switched to a 2008 Donkey & Goat Syrah that seems much more promising. Hopefully the zin won't have too adverse an effect on the pot roast sauce.
