Wines at a Local Restaurant

by Jeff Hellman » Tue Feb 21, 2012 10:27 pm

On Sunday, some friends and I raided the amazing wine cellar of a local restaurant. We had 1995 Ridge Monte Bello ($95), 1987 Dominus ($100), 1994 Dujac Bonnes Mares ($125), 1982 Giuseppi Rinaldi Barolo Brunate ($150) and 1970 Vega Sicilia Unico ($475). All of the wines were spectacular, but the Unico really stole the show.

Impressive prices. (Caveys, by any chance, or something further south?)

Unico is amazing stuff. How did the '94 Dujac show? Wouldn't have expected much from the vintage.

Wow, great prices. Glad to know you're not suffering over there. :)

The Dujac was surprisingly great! I too worried about the vintage, but this once again proves that in Burgundy, you always buy the producer, not the vintage.
