WTN: 1999 Mont Olivet Chateauneuf - whole lot of nothing

1999 Clos du Mont Olivet Chateauneuf du Pape
I discovered this forgotten bottle while pulling wines for a tasting. I had deleted it from my inventory some time back, thinking it was already drunk up. Well it might as well have been, for there was not a whole lot going on. No youthful fruit, no aged earthy/leathery scents, no characteristic herbal streak - in fact not much of anything. It was essentially a blank slate, and thus a completely boring and pointless wine.

Too bad, as I have had great success with Mont Olivet.

Hi David -

Sorry to hear about your disappointing experience with this wine. I remember liking it a few years ago, but maybe it has just gone dumb since then?

(Not that I'm the most knowledgeable person about CDPs or anything.)

Not sure. More CNdP will have to be consumed before it warms up.
