WTN: Comique Revolution Blanc '10...TraderJoe's Steal

by TomHill » Sun Feb 12, 2012 7:09 pm

Stumbled across this at TraderJoe's Sat, so cracked that sucker open over on Aisle 4:
1. Comique Revolution Blanc CentralCoast (14.2%; Roussanne/Marsanne/Viognier/GrenacheBlanc)B by CentralCoastWineWarehouse/SantaMaria 2010: Light gold color; rather fragrant/apple blossom/GrenacheBlanc/floral quite fruity bit waxy/figgy nose; soft fairly lush/rich fruity/GrenacheBlanc/floral some ripe/fiffy/waxy flavor; med.long floral/apple blossom/GrenacheBlanc bit waxy/figgy quite fruity finish; a bit on simple side but speaks of GrenacheBlanc and Paso and a real steal at $6.00 (TJ)

Most of the budget wines at Trader Joes- which is pretty much most of them- tend to be very simple in it's profile. But every once in a while, they come with some really good QPRs.I am all for stretching my dollah

Yup...totally agree. Most of the budget TJ's wines tend to be pretty boring. Though this one was not exactly a thrill-a-minute, it was much better than
most of their value-priced wines.
Their TJ's GrandReserve RRV PinotNoir '10, at $12/btl, is also pretty darn good for the price.
When a new TJ's value-priced wine comes in, I always try to identify the producer. In the case of the Comiquue, the CentralCoastWineWarehouse
was the tip-off that it was probably a white Rhone blend and worth trying.
