Tried last night at dinner:
1. Ridge Calif Zin PonzoVnyd/RRV (3% PS; 14.9%; Bttld: Feb'07; Drk: 12/06-12/11-12/12: JO/PD) 2005: Very dark color w/ slight browning; strong blackberry/Zin/spicy/rosemary/ripe some vanilla/pencilly/Am.oak fairly perfumed/aromatic bit volatile/fumey slight earthy/dusty almost Geyserville-like some complex nose; fairly tart some tannic/hard quite spicy/rosemary/blackberry/Zin/licorice some dusty/earthy/old vines bit hot/alcoholic/ripe some complex flavor; very long bit hard/tannic/drying out strong spicy/rosemary/blackberry/Zin/licorice some vanilla/pencilly/Am.oak bit glycerined/smooth/rich some complex finish; probably on the downside & starting to dry out; speaks of RRV Zin and Ridge w/ light DraperPerfume. $26.00 (ATP)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This is one of the Ridge ATP Zins that happened to develop very nicely into something quite interesting. This often happens but is not a guarantee. This was after a Nervo '03 that was horribly corked and a Mazzoni Home Ranch '04 that was badly tired & dried out. Win some...lose some.
