WTN: Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Brut Sparkling Wine

by Bruce Hayes » Fri Jan 27, 2012 10:34 am

A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Very frothy mousse.

Golden-yellow, with a touch of pink, in the glass.

Masses of fine bubble streams.

Yeasty, toasty on the nose.

Medium weight, good acidity, green apples, very clean, ginger, spicy, crisp, toasty, bready, with some caramel notes.

Spicy, lightly mouthwatering on the finish.

For some reason, I found this to be a bit cloying after a while. I recall enjoying a previous bottle, consumed late last year, much more.

Purchased at $21.95 (Canadian).

Bruce,

If you get a chance pick up a bottle of the Ferrer blanc de blancs. It's a good value, and I prefer it to the rest of the Ferrer sparklers.

I am with Sam on this one. I always prefer the Blanc de Blancs when tasting freebies!!!
