WTN: Crios De Susana Balbo Chardonnay 2010

Mendoza

Bright yellow, with green tints, in the glass.

Tropical fruit, vanilla, fresh and rich on the nose.

Medium weight, quite rich, banana, melon, pear, tangerine, green apple, lemon, lime, spicy, good acidity, nice citrus peel bite, light honey, peppery, vanilla, very clean.

Mouthwatering, citrus rind on the finish.

Quite a bit of stuff packed into a bottle.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $11.95 (Canadian).

The Crios line- up is pretty impressive. I need to try some of her 'upper end' wines, as I am convinced she is a very talented wine maker.

I like her Torrontes and Rose of Malbec but have to admit I'd not thought about trying anything else. I generally steer clear of Chardonnay from outwith Burgundy. Might have to give this a go. Hell anytime I see "pepper" in a tasting note I think about giving it a go.

Have been a big Balbo Malbec fan for a number of years, along with her partner Ben Marco who also produces some very nice Malbec. Highly recommended!
