WTN: Outstanding Grunhaus

1998 Von Schubert Maximin Grünhauser Abtsberg Riesling Auslese #215
A stunning wine; fragrant and layered with layers of orchard fruits, pine needles, bright honeyed, herbal and floral elements and an undercurrent of stony mineral notes. There's great depth and balance here, moderate sweetness (about that of a young Spätlese) balanced by bright acidity and a sense of incredible purity and clarity to the flavours with a finish that just resonates on and on. Wish I had more, but no regrets about opening my only bottle now as this was quite outstanding.

There is nothing like "older" Grunhaus.
