i too have found norton a problem. i would need to know the vineyard practices and winemaking techniques involved in the few i liked vs. the ugly foxy versions and the oak bombs that predominate - the oak of course meant to mask the fruit. i suspect that clonal selection is involved and would not be surprised if some of the norton turned out to be chambourcin. i can certainly see why this is the road less traveled.

Dave compares the old world style of Norton to Italy’s Barbera grape.

Exactly what I used to constantly say - about the old-line hybrid reds as well.
