2008 Podere Forte 'Guardiavigna' (Toscana IGT)
Made from a blend of 65% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc, 9% Petit Verdot.
This is an unusually high share of Cabernet Franc for a Toscana IGT. But it seems to work very well on this terroir:
Dark purple. Subtle nose of dark berries, tropical wood and crushed rock with an intriguing floral note.
On the palate the wine is full-bodied, showing creamy unctuosity and massive density.
It is very rich while at the same time precise and elegant. There's also admirable purity and lenght.
Somehow this wine reminds me of Château Palmer. But it's showing less freshness and depth than Palmer.
What a great effort from rather young vines!
Best regards,
Rainer
