by Bruce Hayes » Fri Jan 20, 2012 9:34 pm

Coastal Region, South Africa
Boekenhoutskloof Winery

Dark purple in the glass.

A huge nose: tarry, smoky, floral, black fruit, vanilla and creamy.

Medium weight, blueberry, blackberry, black cherry, vanilla, spicy, smoky, quite rich, creamy, good acidity, fruit forward and jammy, with a bit of alcohol heat toward the end.

Cherry, red licorice on the fairly long finish.

Went well with a roast beef.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).
