Very interesting article on MarcoCappelli by MikeDunne in today's SacBee:

I have, of course, followed MarcCappelli from the very start at SwansonVnyds. Not much interested in the Cabs, but when he started making Syrah (from the same vnyd that ClarkeSwanson bought out from under SeanThackery, who was making his iconic Orion from), I was blown away by it. Huge/intense fruit w/o the Thackerey eucalyptus terroir.
When Marc moved up to ElDorado, I was expecting him to make a big splash (big fish in a small pond), but he's been staying pretty much under the radar. He's winemaker at Miraflores (I need to try their wines) and content to farm the HerbertVnyd, who used to sell Zin to JohnMacCready/SierraVista.
But it's nice to get an update on Marc. I need to visit him up there sometime.
