NYTimes: Asimov On CanaryIsland Wines

Really nice article by EricAsimov in today's NYTimes:
NYTimes:CanaryIslandWines

featuring the wines imported by JosePastor. I've had only the Fronton de Oro and was most impressed by it. Many of these wines are favorites of Alice...FWIW.

It's like Cigar Aficionado reporting on Sonoma County's cigar rolling industry.

I think what Craig is trying to say is that it's some big/important publication reporting
on an industry that's so tiny that it's of no importance.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Craig.

Canary Islands used to be a big cigar rolling capital. So of course, when I think of Canary Islands, the first thing I think of is cigars, not wine. A wine writer has chosen to write about the wines of a place known not for wines but for cigars. So I thought about a cigar writer writing about the cigars of a place known for wine. I hope that explains it. I didn't think it would be so difficult. But hey, I guess I just don't think the same way most people do. Obviously, my sense of humor is not normal, either.

Hi Tom -

Thank you for the link to the article - Asimov is always good to read. I actually read this earlier today, and have tried a few of the wines that Eric mentions. The Bermejos still wines are very nice, although I am very hesitant to buy their sparkler when I can readily get an excellent Champagne for less money. Also liked the Fronton de Oro Tinto, although I have only had the 2009.

Glad that Jose Pastor is bothering to bring these wines to the United States.
