2004 Rudi Pichler Weissenkirchner Achleithen Riesling Smaragd (dry late harvest)

The beauty of this wine lies in its clarity and expressiveness.
Its mineral aroma is somehow reminiscent of the clear air in the mountains after rain or snowfall.
On the nose there is a intriguing mix of white grapefruit, lime and basil.
On the palate it is showing lovely freshness and vibrancy while being precise and straightforward - unchanged even five days after opening the bottle.
As a Smaragd this is quite light on its feet (fortunately!) and demonstrating impressive intensity and length on the finish.
What an inspiring wine, it reminds me of Johanna Maier's enchanting recipes for springtime ..

Best regards,
Rainer
