WTN: 2010 Müller-Catoir Gimmeldingen Riesling Kabinett

2010 Müller-Catoir Gimmeldingen Riesling Kabinett Trocken –Pfalz, Germany 12,5% alc.

Of the three MC village Rieslinge (Klassiker), this is absolutely the most extroverted. This baby is loaded to the brim with exotic spices that almost recall Muskateller (if I thought they had any to spare, which they certainly don’t, I would swear that it was cut with that wonderful stuff.) Grapefruit, peach, ginger, jasmine, sea-spray. It is like a slingshot, it starts out creamy and coiled and tense and then lets loose a line-drive of flower petal and acidity. Fabulous stuff, but I must say that I prefer the Haardter Kabinett for its completeness and overall gemütlichkeit. Still, it makes a very good case for dry Pfälzer Riesling.

Cheers,
Bill
