WTN: Conceding one to Bill Hooper on Pfalz Spätburgunder

by Salil » Sat Jan 07, 2012 10:10 pm

2009 A. Christmann Spätburgunder (QbA trocken)
Awkward initially; a little green, stemmy and acidic, but with some air it really comes together nicely. Fresh red fruits, herbal and pine needle accents and a vividly stony mineral base, all conveyed with a sense of lightness and freshness that makes it very easy to drink. Seriously good value and one Spätburgunder I wouldn't mind having a few of in the cellar.

A few years ago, I received a 2007 Losen-Bockstanz Spätburgunder from my wine club. I loved the wine! Deep, earthy taste unlike anything I've had before. I have not be able to find it since.

Hi Salil -

Thank you for the very interesting note. Since you mentioned that this was a good value, I would be interested to know how much you got this wine for, if you don't mind sharing.
