Fair question and a point mentioned by Tim a while back. I think we talked about drawing a line east of Rome so anything south!!
Montepulciano d`Abbruzo, Puglia, Sicily, Campania, Basilicata, Ischia (?), Lazio, Taurasi. Probably more if one looks at the map, grin wink. Guess some obscure appellations out there?

For the short answer, I think Tim hit the nail on the head: Start at the southern edge of Lazio and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
For the long answer, stick with the forum tradition: There's no rule against making your own call on the marginal cases. Anybody who wants to post a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo needn't be shamed for it.
