After a fun 11 days visiting family and friends, it was time to head home. The drive was long and stressful, so dinner called for something calming after the horror of Is 95, 287 and 84. The 2010 Cowan Cellars Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir did just the trick. Showing very pretty cherry fruit with some tart accents, the overall impression of the wine is of freshness, clarity and blessed restraint. After 5 hours of bumper to bumper, restrictor plate highway racing, it is a vinous sigh for the soul.
