2010 Christmann Riesling Trocken Qualitätswein –Pfalz, Germany 12,0% alc.
After Andrews Paradiesgarten note I couldn't help but open the only Christmann Riesling that I had in the house. Always happy about that. I cannot get enough of this wine (especially for the price!) Labeled Qualitätswein to conform with the suggested regulations of the VDP Pfalz, this is in actuality an unchaptalized (again, as all Christmann wines are) dry Spätlese of remarkable character. Peach, Mirabelle plum (yet again), honey, graham cracker, pumpkin seed, and almond blossom. Sappy, intense, succulent fruit with snappy (completely non-deacidified like all of Christmanns wines) acidity. I think that along with Müller-Catoirs Haardter Riesling Kabinett Trocken and Knipser Blauer Spätburgunder 2008/09 my QPR of the year. 10€
Cheers,
Bill
