From a badly leaking bottle, this took a bit of time to clean up, but was well worth the effort. Under the rather nasty cork was a wine that had advanced somewhat, but had also eaten its sulfur and developed a notable creaminess allied to youthful fruit. I've had recent kabinetts from some producers that were as sweet as this auslese, but where the true pradikat of the wine came through was in the texture/mouthfeel - richness and length instead of just pure weight. Lovely, if ahead of its time.

Hi David,

This sounds like a great wine. We had a Studert-Prum 2009 Wenhlener-Sonnenuhr riesling kabinett for our Christmas eve dinner and it was a really delicious match with our fish fry of small-mouth bass with fries and cole slaw. It was an especially nice match with the coleslaw.
