WTN: 1996 Dom Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin

A wonderful wine to sit and enjoy over a few hours; this starts out a little thin and austere without much palate presence, but over time rounds out into a perfectly balanced, medium-weight whole conveying layers of fresh red fruits, developing leathery and sous bois elements and gentle floral accents with a delicate touch. There's a wonderful fragrance here and a glossy, polished texture that emerges with time. Outstanding wine, and I really need to drink Rousseau's wines more often. (Pricing of course makes that a challenge, but the wines are incredible.)

I hope that my half-dozen of Charmes-Chambertin 96 from Rousseau will show as well as this. It's about time that I disinter them from the bottom of a pile. I'll bear in mind the need for airing.
