Saint-Julien
Grande Cru Classe
Decanted about 30 minutes prior to the meal.
Still a rather deep red in the glass.
Smoke, earth, forest floor, black olives and black cherry on the nose.
Medium weight, smoky, good acidity, sour cherry, raspberry, tarry, earthy, leather, red licorice, tangy.
Mushroom, earthy, cherry on the long finish.
Became tangier and a little thinner with time in the decanter. The first half of the bottle was certainly better than the last.
A comforting wine on a cold and windy November evening.
