Tried last night w/ my pizza:
1. Ramsay Calif Mourvedre (13%) 1995: Dark bit murky color w/ noticible bricking; strong plummy/licorice/earthy slight herbal/rosemary/pungent light smokey/oak quite complex nose; soft/smooth slightly tannic/dried out strong plummy/licorice/Mourv bit earthy/herbal/rosemary/spicy light smokey/oak flavor; very long plummy/licorice/Mourv bit earthy/dusty/mushroomy slight tannic/dried out smooth/polished/soft quite complex finish; probably beyond its peak but a lovely old lady of a mature Mourvedre; a real pleasure to drink.

A wee BP:
1. Ramsay: The second label of KentRasmussen...mostly made from purchased grapes. I'd guess the grapes came from ContraCostaCnty...where it often goes by its Portugese name of Mataro. I opened this w/ low expectations, but was blind-sided by what a great example of mature Mourv it was. Alas, by the time I finished cooking the pizza & sat down to eat, it was already fading and hard a lot of hard/dried out tannins.
