I don't know what it is, but the bottles I bought from local winery Sterling Albert seem to have a death wish. The first bottle made a zin-colored stain all over the driveway. The second made it into the house but managed to fling itself over twice, once in the hall and again in the cellar. Somehow it survived long enough to enjoy with dinner, though I'm tempted to wrap it in bubble wrap. I almost never break bottles, so this is really unusual. Thank goodness they're lower in price.
