WTN: Recently found German wines!

by Jim Grow » Sun Nov 27, 2011 9:28 pm

I recently checked thru my off-site cellar and came upon some older German Rieslings and tried a couple over the Holiday.

1999 Kurt Darting 1999 Durkheimer Hochbenn Kabinett Riesling: Deep amber color and nose and palate of apple (Jonathon) and lots of petrol with adequate acidity but not crisp. Darker color than expected but very nice. Abv 9%

2001 Koehler Ruprecht Kallstadter Steinacher Kabinett: deep straw color with lots of apple fruit and slight petrol and slight apricot with a touch of chalk. Very enjoyable but could have used a bit more acidity. More to come later. Abv of %10.5

Hi Jim -

Thank you for the interesting notes on these older Kabinetts. Glad that you enjoyed them.
