WTN: 2005 Regnard Bourgogne/Pinot Noir

13% alcohol by volume. Shows some viscosity. Fruity nose. Dark raspberry on the palate. I'm testing this and a Bruno Clavalier Bourgogne as possible Thanksgiving wines (along with a Gewurztraminer, a Riesling, and an Anderson Valley Pinot Noir.) Easy going, juicy and balanced. Lacks complexity and depth but it was exceedingly food-friendly the first evening. (The fruit faded some by the second evening.) I had it the first evening with leftover spaghetti from "The World's Largest Spaghetti Dinner" put on annually by the Greek Orthodox Church in Fayetteville, NC (take out for several thousand customers in one evening.) I would rate this 86 points the first evening.

In wine class the last week we did a turkey with sage dressing and sweet potatoes, sauced up green beans. A Vouvray was the favorite. Very similar to your Riesling. I also like Moscato d'Asti, but I am sort of burned out on those at the moment. And we seem to have a very nice Beaujolais Nouveau this year (one of those is almost compulsory. Asti is nice with the pumpkin pie. Enjoy.
